We prepared the 0.19%C carbon steel specimens, which were heat-treated at 200-900℃ after cold-rolling. The specimens were charged with hydrogen by cathodic polarization, and hydrogen in the specimens was analyzed by using the melting extraction method (MEM) and the thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS). The hydrogen concentration measured by MEM was larger in the specimens heat-treated at higher temperatures. This indicates that specimen structure effects on the concentration and diffusion coefficient of hydrogen. In the thermal spectrum of hydrogen evolution rate measured by TDS, several peaks were observed. The peaks were concluded to be due to the evolution of hydrogen atoms trapped by dislocations, interfaces of cementite/ferrite and grain boundaries.
