The purpose of this study is to comprehend the actual state of people with physical disabilities who are living in less-populated areas./ It is thought that less-populated areas are inconvenient for people with physical disabilities to live. This study tried to understand their lives without having such a bias, and tried to obtain the baseline data for health promotion. Mainly, two scales were used in this study; SOC (Sense of Coherence) and GSES (General Self - Efficacy Scale). SOC is a zest for living, which is acquired in mind posteriori by making a good relationship with imminent environment. GSES is a scale that measures the anticipation whether some actions can be neatly accomplished. GSES is utilized widely in health education today and said to have a strong connection with SOC./ The number of research cooperators was 86. The average age was 64.8 (range: 29-90). Most of them were persons who had lived in the regions for years and had disabilities on their life roads. Their lives were rich in diversity. 49 people (64.4%) thought the regions they had lived were comfortable to live in spite of some difficulties./ As a whole, the scores of SOC of severely disabled people displayed considerable variation. The score of GSES tended a little low. SOC, GSES, salt for life, and health correlated with each other./ For independent lives, it is important for them to receive rehabilitation and cordial care, and it is also important for them to have “comprehensibility”, “manageability”, and “meaningfulness”.
