The purpose of this paper is to consider about some factors that necessary to develop lessons of literature for fostering students' active transactions. Some discourses on the "self-reflections" in the communities of readers were discussed (Iser, Berger and Luckmann, Lotman, and Bakhtin). And the freshmen's responses to a literary text ('A Circus of Love') was analysed. Their responses to a literary text reflect each life experiences. So, in their responses to other student's responses, not only each identity themes but also their interest to another student's theme were presented. Students would be decentering their self and make reflections about their self and social relations in this process. I thought it was one of the critical factor for organizing rich learning by literature.
