パフチンの研究以来，文学研究や言語学研究，さらには最近のポストモダン人類学においても，言語におけるポリフオニーは重要なテーマとなっている。この点においては，フランスの言語学者デュクロが，フランス語の語用論的分析を元に， 1984年に重要な理論を提出している。本稿は，彼のポリフオニ一言語学の理論を検討することを通じて，社会科学におけるポリフォニーの意味を考察するものである。本稿ではまず，言語学理論におけるデュクロ理論の意義についてまず検討した後，民族誌的データと調査方法論をデュクロ理論の観点から再考した。そしてその上で，オーストロネシア語族の言語(ここではフィリピン諸語とマレー諸語)を例に，非ヨーロッパ言語における言語活動におけるこの分析方法の可能性を検討した。Since Bakhtin's study, polyphony in discourse is a crucial theme in literary and linguistic studies as well as in recent post-modem anthropology. In this domain, a French linguist Ducrot presented an important theoretical work in 1984, essentially based on the study of French discourse. In this paper, by examining his theory of linguistic polyphony, we try to reveal implication of polyphony to social science. After discussing significance of Ducro's theory in linguistic theories, we examine ethnographic evidences and research methodologies in terms of polyphony. We also explore the possibility of polyphonic analysis of non-European language practice; here some Austronesian languages (Filipino and Malay) are discussed.
