This paper deals with the metabolism of proteins and amino acids which occurred in the seeds of Japanese pines during the period from fertilization to germination. Results of the investigation so far are as follows: 1) The proteins found in ripe seeds of Japanese black and red pines (Pinus Thunbergii and P. densiflora) were glutelin, albumin, globulin and prolamin of which glutelin was most abundant and prolamin very scarce. This fact found by the author differs from the results hitherto obtained by other investigators. According to the author's investigation, the main protein of embryo of both pines was albumin while that of endosperm was glutelin. Most of the glutelin and globulin existed in endosperm. (cf. Tab. 2 & Tab. 3)
