For the purpose of investigating the selfing ability in Gentiana, pollination behavior, especially degree of protandry was observed. Further, the technique of seed production by cut flower was examined The results obtained are as follows 1. Period of fertile stage both reproductive organs was recognized, and it may suggest that the Gentiana has fairly selfing ability. 2. Remarkable differences in the degree of protandry were observed among individuals. 3. Seeds were obtained efficiently by cut flower technique.
