When a nonlinear inductance is excited by the current of a certain frequency, the subharmonic of half the frequency oscillates in the tank circuit composed of the nonlinear inductance and a capacitance. If a nonlinear inductance is excited by the oscillating current, a subharmonic of a quarter of the frequency of the current oscillates an output. With such a method, the inductances of the number of n are connected. The divided ratio of a frequency divider connected with a multi-stage is the product of the divided ratio of the individual stages. In this case, the divided ratio of the frequency divider is 1/2ⁿ, consequently, the input frequency is divided by 2ⁿ. In this paper, the frequency divider which utilizes parametric oscillation is described, and the optimum condition of the connection is given. Experiments on ferrite cores and 45 permalloy cores are made, and characteristics of the four stages connected frequency divider are also measured.
