Basic Economics nowadays consists of only Micro- and Macro-Economics. However economists should also incorporate in BasicEconomics, so to speak, Capital Economics, which is defined in this articleas a field including insurances, pensions, futures, and options, all of whichhave been created by the intelligence of the mankind as very convenienteconomic devices used to relieve various sorts of precariousness ofindividuals and corporations.Capital Economics considers transactions of capital or money in a broadsense, not only including those concerning traditional forms of monetaryassets such as stocks, bonds, securities, foreign currencies, etc., but alsoincluding those concerning such economic items as insurances, pensions, futures, and options. However, although this article maintains necessity of broadening thescope of Basic Economics, a substantial part of this paper is a discussion ofconcepts and institutions particularly regarding commodity futuresmarkets, which, I would like to argue, should constitute a part of thenecessary additional contents to the conventional Basic Economics.
