This report discusses the conditions and methods of storing at the dam available reserved water that was produced by savings in agricultual use. Then, in order to confirm the significance of the theory, it was applied in the actual case of YAHAGIGAWA water use district which is located in AICHI Pref.. Brief contents of this report are as follows : 1.The conditions of available reserved water are met when the quantity of saved water is more than that of residual water at the diversion weir point. It means that the optimum methods of the water management are produced when the residual water is zero point. 2. When above-mentioned conditions are not satisfied, non-available reserved water come into existence. To explain it more correctly, if runoff of water, except from dam drainage basin, is a greater quantity than the requirement at the diversion weir, non available reserved water occurs inevitably. 3. From the case study, it is clear that a great deal of available water is reserved in the droughty years and non-available reserved water occurs in the periods of Nawashiro, before Nakaboshi and Rakusui. But almost all non-available reserved water is used for indem-nity for river fishery, hydroelectric power generation and inevitable non-available reserved water : so there is no room for effective use.
