The epidemic of pharyngo-conjunctival-fever among school-children had occurred in Nagasaki city in summer 1966 and it was demonstrated to be causative by adenovirus type 3 as previously described by authors. In the later part of June, 1967, acute febrile illness with lymphatic swelling and anorexia had outbroken in a day nursery near Nagasaki city. From 10 of 12 children suffered from febrile illness, adenovirus type 3 could be isolated and antibody rising against the virus in their sera was found too. The discrepancy of clinical picture between the cases investigated in two epidemic occurred in 1966 and 1967 could be found. Most of cases in 1966 had typical pharyngitis and conjunctivitis and some of them had meningitis picture. However, all cases in 1967 had observed lymphatic swelling and anoresia. It was assumed that children had been widely exposed to adenovirus type 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 and might infect with them with inapparent clinical picture, furthermore, during these two years, adenovirus type 3 had been disseminated among children with apparent infection. It should be taken into consideration too that adenovirus type 7 which children many infect with apparent picture as similar as type 3 could be causative in epidemic of febrile illness in Japan.
