Weijer (1993) proposes a new representation of nasals and laterals. The representation is not adequate enough to describe the formation of intrusive stops in English. That is because [nasal] is a dependent of [stop]. If [nasal] depends on [son] which is a dependent of the root, and if [son] can spread like a normal feature, not only the formation of intrusive stops in English is accounted for, but also the processes in Rice and Avery (1991) are simply and straightforwardly described.
