昭和62年度長崎大学公開講座で収集された諸データをもとに「血液型（ABO式血液型）と性格」に関する俗説を科学的心理学の観点から見直した．血液型人間「学」者が主張する行動特性についての調査，YG検査における性格因子得点と性格類型の判定，及びPFスタディ検査を用いた欲求不満場面での反応のしかたに関する調査のいずれにおいても血液型と性格との関連性は認められなかった．また，コンピュータが日本人の平均的血液型分布に等しい確率でランダムに抽出した架空の血液型分布標本を提示する実験から，ほんらい偶然的な変動の範囲内にある偏りに対しても主観的には「偏りがある」と判断される傾向があることが指摘された．The present report criticizes the ‘typecasting by blood', one of the most wide-spread pseudo-sciences in Japan. The results of four examinations (assessments of daily behaviors, Yatabe-Guilford personality test, Rosenzweig Picture Frustration test, and a test of subjective judgments on various distributions of blood types ) revealed that ‘blood typing' is of no practical value in understanding and predicting behavior.
