This study aims to clalify the facts that the implementation of both of the Accreditation of Initial Teacher Training by DES in 1984 and the National Curriculum in 1988 had influence on the time allocation and contens of physical education lessons in primary phase initial teacher training. The results are summarised as follows: (1)In primary phase initial teacher training, the number of time allocation of physical education lessons increased about both of BEd courses and PGCE courses from 1970's to 1980's. (2)In the begining of 1990's, the number of the time allocation of physical education lessons decreased about BEd training courses. That decrease caused by increase of the time allocation of English, mathematics and science. (3)It is seems that the criteria for courses of initial training of primary teachers by CATE in 1993 had undesirable influences on the reform of physical education in primary phase initial teacher training.
