A strong earthquake occurred in the neighbourhood of Sizuoka city at 17 h 25 m, July 11, 1935. Although damage was confined to a comparatively small area, 360 dwelling houses were demolished and 9 persons killed. The epicentre was determined to be λ=138°26'and ψ=34°59'. The largest damage occurred in regions surrounding the Udo mountain block and in the basin of the Tomoegawa River. Only two aftershocks were felt in this region, the epicentres of which were found to lie in the north foot of the Udo mountain block by means of the network of the seismological stations temporarily erected after the earthquake.
