Closed form stress intensity factor of an arbitrarily located inner-surface circumferential crack in an edge-restraintcylinder under linear radial temperature distribution was derived based on the theory of cylindrical shell and compliance. The effects of cylinder length, crack position and edge restraint on the stress intensity factor can be evaluated by theequation. According to the numerical examples of the equations, the stress intensity factor showed maximum when thecrack is located at the midpoint of its length, and a tendency to decrease as the crack length becomes larger than a specificvalue (93 words).
