A method of evaluating the total soundness and remaining life of a deteriorated structure is considered in this paper. Making use of the weight function to sum up the deterioration level for all structural members, the total soundness of a structure is obtained. By means of fuzzy set theory the soundness of a structure is obtained taking human judgement for the deterioration level into account, as in an expert system
