Development and Performance Test of DBF/Channelizer for STICS

We conducted R&D on a Satellite/Terrestrial Integrated Mobile Communication System (STICS), with a dual communication system: terrestrial and satellite. A digital beam former and a digital channelizer (DBF/DC) were studied to implement the system. We developed a small-scale model of a transmitting and receiving DBF/DC and then checked its functions and transmission characteristics. To confirm the accuracy of the DBF, we calculated the radiation pattern from the output phase shift of a transmitting DBF/DC modeling a 16-element array. In this paper, we explain the DBF/DC functions for the STICS and report our evaluation results of the DBF/DC. In addition, we describe the future of DBF/DC.
