Jet fuel falls into two categories based on boiling point range. One is kerosene type with boiling range of kerosene fraction; the other is wide range boiling point type with boiling range from kerosene fraction to gasoline fraction. They are used as fuel of civilian and military airplanes respectively. Kerosene type is produced by the desulfurized kerosene, the required freezing point is lower than the normal kerosene, therefore we remove heavier component of kerosene in distillation processes. Wide range boiling point type is produced by the mixture of desulfurized kerosene and naphtha. The main properties requirement of jet fuel are as follows: (1) Good combustion quality (2) Generating a large amount of heat. (3) Good cold property (4) Good thermal stability (5) No corrosive (6) High electric conductivity. Quality standards of jet fuel are critical in comparison with other petroleum products, because there is a possibility that the catastrophe is caused if a problem occur during navigation. In addition, it is necessary that jet fuel conforms to the international standards to be used across borders. In refineries, significant efforts are made to manufacture and ship products that satisfy customer's needs and quality standards by implementing strict quality control.
