A floor heating, so called 'Ondol', is widely used in Korea, and it has been known that Ondol provided good thermal environment. However in Ondol system, ventilation rate is not enough and cold draft can occur because natural ventilation is the only way of providing outdoor air into space. As an alternative for the problems, a raised Ondol is suggested. For the full-scale space where a raised-floor Ondol was installed, lab test was performed to examine ventilation rate and thermal environment. The result of the lab test shows that supplied air temperature to the space ranged from 22.97℃ to 24.80℃, when outdoor air temperature varied -1.8℃ to 5.7℃ since the heat from floor preheated the outdoor air. Ventilation rate was 0.86 ACH (air change rate per hour) which exceeds the recommended value by ASHRAE Standard. The objective of this study was to evaluate the raised-floor Ondol with ventilation system by simulation (trnsys) which was conducted based on the result of the mock-up test.
