Enhanced chemical power by pulsed ultrasound was demonstrated. There are many reports about chemical reactions using pulsed ultrasound. Almost of them reported the pulsed ultrasound irradiation had higher sonochemical power than continuum. According to some reports, however, decreasing in ultrasonic power was observed. The present study investigated the optimal conditions for the enhancement of sonochemical power in the case of pulsed ultrasound. Ultrasonic irradiation was performed using an ultrasonic bath (500kHz, 30W) at 25℃. The sonochemical power was evaluated by KI dosimetry. To investigate the relation of the chemical power to input ultrasonic power, we also carried out calorimetry. First of all, we confirmed that chemical power increasing in the case of pulsed ultrasound compared with continuum. Then, to obtain the optimum intervals a variety of intervals was performed when 1ms ultrasound was irradiated. As the result, similar intervals around irradiation periods gave the maximum sonochemical power. In those conditions, induced ultrasonic power was also recorded the maximum value. By following examination, we would obtain more sonochemical power by pulsed ultrasound.
