In this article, we present a low computational complexity automatic modulation classification (AMC) method for multiple modulation schemes. AMC is a technique which identifies the modulation scheme of the transmitted signals only from received signals. To reduce the numerical complexity of the detector, we approximate probability density functions (PDF) of received signals. To verify that our detector is robust to the uncertainty in noise variance, we compare the case that the noise variance is available with the one that the noise variance is unavailable. It is demonstrated that the potential of our proposed method in detecting a certain modulation schemes from multiple candidates. Numerical simulations are provided to assess the performance of our proposed methods. To show the robust multiple schemes detection, we also compare the effectiveness of our proposed detector in detecting the modulation scheme with the recently proposed generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT)-based spectrum sensing method for cognitive radio which requires some prior information.
