This study has proposed an optimal arrangement method of base-isolated buildings, which have oil dampers, rubber bearings and sliders, by using a genetic algorithm. The item to be evaluated in the genetic algorithm are: 1) a eccentricity ratio, 2) a natural period, 3) a damping factor, 4) a yield force coefficient, 5) a maximum response displacement, and 6) a vertical load on rubber bearings. The proposed method of this study has been applied to actual designed buildings to optimize the arrangement of those base isolators. We also carried out the time history response analysis of the building designed by our method. As a result of the time history response analysis, the designed building satisfied the design criteria. Therefore it was shown the validity of the proposed method.
