In this paper I compare the mathematical terms which occur in some Babylonian literary texts with those of Babylonian mathematics, and I propose new translations for two passages from the so-called Eduba compositions: (1) Examination Text A, line 27. "Do you know multiplication, a number and its reciprocal, fixed coefficients, accounting, to entrust work, to compute all work quotas, to divide property (and) to delimit fields?" (2) Dialogue 1, line 57-58. "I have indeed recited the multiplication table (but) you do not know (it) perfectly. I have indeed got an approximate value of a reciprocal which is larger than it, (but) the calculation method has not been learned by you."
