In recent years, newly proposed delay-based schemes like Caia-Hamilton Delay(CHD)or Caia Delay-Gradient(CDG) are becoming popular due to their effectiveness even over wireless links. CHD or CDG are considering their friendliness with TCP NewReno flows. However, the friendliness is not enough due to their inherent delay-based window update mechanisms. That is, CHD or CDG are pressed by co-existing TCP NewReno flows. Furthermore, for CHD, it is not possible to determine the most accurate value of the queuing threshold intuitively. In this paper, we propose a new mechanisms to overcome the above issues. We name it as Wireless Friendly Congestion Control(WFCC). Our objective is to devise congestion control scheme that is(i) robust against link errors under a wide range of network buffer space,(ii) free from delicate operational parameters and (iii) friendly with TCP NewReno flows over wireless links when deployed together. We conduct a through evaluation of our proposed approaches by emulation. Results show WFCC (i) can yield a performance improvement of 170%or more compared to TCP NewReno schemes and (ii) are friendly with TCP NewReno flows over wireless links.
