Traction motors of self-ventilation types used for commuter trains cause aerodynamic noises rotation when an internal cooling flow grows up. We calculated the value of the aerodynamics noise generated from the inside of a traction motor with the general-purpose heat fluid analysis software. In the calculation shows that the sound power level in decibels grew up at the vicinity of the rotator's entrance of the cooling duct in the rotator of traction motor rotator's. It not has been understood to achieve the effect of the countermeasures decrease sound power level at the vicinity of the duct by the calculation. Since cooling fans cause large influence, we changed the specification and simulated to the forced-ventilation type traction motor without the cooling fan. Consequently, not only inside measurement point of a traction motor but also outside one the countermeasures admitted effective in decreasing sound power level.
