A high speed downlink communication system is required to meet different applications for nano satellites. Therefore, it is essential for implementing a power and weight limited transmitter in the satellites. We have developed different classes of GaN power amplifiers (PAs) for transmitter of nano satellites. The PA is a key factor in determining the satellite channel performance, and then classes AB and F PAs are modeled to evaluate the system characteristics. Our recent studies have focused on the efficient system adopting CCSDS 131.2-B signaling formats with the limited satellite transmitter incorporating a powerful ground station receiver. To overcome the channel distortions, a memoryless channel predistortion scheme at the transmitter and a SCCC turbo equalization employing non-linear distortion compensation techniques has been developed at the receiver. We then evaluate system performances by implementing newly developed classes AB and F PAs.
