Pb-239 Reduction in glucose yield for high concentration feedstock in hydrothermal pretreatment of eucalyptus

Eucalyptus residue, an excessive agriculture waste from Thailand, was hydrothermally pretreated. The flow reactor was used in this study with the short residence time, heating rate and cooling rate. Pulverized eucalyptus residue was treated in the temperature 160-260 ℃ at flow rate 80 mL/min by varying the feedstock concentration 1.0, 0.5 and 0.1 wt%. The glucose content of the treated liquid product was measured. The solid product was analyzed for cellulose content and further treated with cellulase. The product glucose yield indicated that the effectiveness of the hydrothermal pretreatment and acetic acid, a good auto-catalyst for hydrothermal pretreatment, was observed. At low feedstock concentration (0.1 wt %), total glucose yield increased to 0.6 while decomposition product yield were decreased to 0.27.
