In recent years, variations in knowledge and skills among first-year students have been highlighted. In order to rectify these variations, we considered that it might be necessary to provide mental support in classes especially when school began, in addition to fostering the expansion of knowledge and improving skills. Based on this point of view, we devised a new plan for the class structure. This study introduces a trial of classes conducted by team teaching (2 teachers in the same classroom) in a math class of a year group. Furthermore, we tried to reduce the first-year students' anxiety by adopting small class composition as appropriate with the class divided into two halves during practical classes, and gave the students in each of the halves detailed instructions.
