This paper reports on a Japanese language teaching seminar held for local volunteer teachers in Aomori. After the last session, a questionnaire was conducted to assess the participant teacher's motivation to learn. Analysis using the ARCS motivation model shows that the seminar served to motivate teachers to learn and develop themselves. The classification using the same model also shows that the seminar contents and instructor's behavior enhanced the teacher's motivation to learn.
