This article examines the use of content-based, peace education activities which were developed for a reading EFL course at the university level. For this purpose, three pieces of related non-fiction literature with the themes of the Holocaust-The drama of the Diary of Anne Frank (McCloskey & Stack, 1996), a simplified version of the Diary of Anne Frank (Ishii et al., 1994), and the picture storybook, Passage to Freedom: The Sugihara Story (Mochizuki, 1997)-were utilized. Instructional methods that adapted authentic literary materials and used various types of graphic organizers and role-play are described in order. Through such integrated language activities, students learned the content of the true stories in the world history while developing an awareness of peace and enhancing their four skills of English, critical thinking skills, and empathy. As a result, the emotional impact on the students was evident in the class survey that was conducted after the lessons.
