Brazing of Alumina to Super Inver is considered to be difficult because of high content of oxidationsusceptible element such as Al. Moreover. obtaining high joint strength by vacuum brazing withconventional fillers. where no flux in used. is practically impossible. Therefore, in this study, Ag-Cu-Bi-alloywas examined as brazing filler for Alumina and Super Inver to whether it was fit for use. This fillerthickness was thinner than 1 mm. Ti foils were used for the purpose of wetting agent. These` foils thicknesswere 0. 003 mm. Fillers and foils were used in the brazing experiment to investigate relation between brazingtemperature and joint strength. EPMA analysis of the brazed interfaces and surfaces analysis of thespecimens were performed. EPMA analysis carried out on the surfaces of specimens revealed the followingfact:(1)The filler metal with Bi what it's low melting temperature metal formed almost common 3 phases out ofpure metals although they were slightly melted together.(2)Solidus was about 535K, Liquidus was about 923K, joining temperature was 873K. hardness of filler metalwas HV41. and bending strength of the brazed joints was about 98. 7MPa.Key Words: Ceramics.
