Since the breakdown of Cold War in the 1980s, the security studies has experienced a considerable widening of almost every aspects including a formation of alternative theories and methodologies. One of the most influential trends is a growing legitimacy of the constructivism within the discipline. Difference between constructivism and traditional approaches such as realism is an inclusion or an exclusion of cultural aspects into their theories. Although cultural aspects have been rather intentionally neglected by the traditional approaches, some realistshave made a serious attempt to incorporate some cultural aspects to reformulate traditional model though they try to maintain their core concepts. Similarly, some constractivists also try to close the division through adopting scientific realism.
