• A new phenylethanoid glycoside isocistanoside C (1),2-(4-hydroxy-3- methoxyphenyl) ethyl 1-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl ( l→3)-(6-O-caffeoyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside was isolated from Cistanche deserticola Y. C. Ma (Orobanchaceae), together with the following thirteen known compounds cistanoside C (2), isoacteoside (3), acteoside (4), syringalide A 3'-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (5), isosyringalide3'-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (6), 2'-acetylacteoside (7), osmanthuside B (8), tubuloside B (9), echinacoside (10), cistanoside A (11), cistanoside F (12), 6-deoxycatalpol (13) and 8-epiloganic acid (14). This is the first isolation of 6 from Cistanche deserticola Y. C. Ma.
