DOA estimation of circular signals under conditions of mixed circular and non-circular signals based on modified ESPRIT (アンテナ・伝播)

In general estimation of Direction of Arrival (DOA), the arrival signals can be assumed as circular signals or non-circular signals. In some conditions, the arrival signals can also be assumed as mixed signals, which is consists of circular and non-circular signals. ESPRIT and MUSIC can estimate the DOA of mixed signals only if the number of arrival signals is less than the number of antennas. Estimation methods of DOA of mixed circular and non-circular signals that have been proposed by Gao et al. and Ning et al. based on MUSIC algorithm. These methods can handle incoming mixed signals with the number equal or more than the number of antennas, but the calculation time of these methods is slow, because MUSIC uses searching algorithm to find the peaks that represents the DOA estimation of arrival signals. In this paper, estimation method of DOA for circular signals which is assumed as desired signals is proposed by using ESPRIT with orthogonal complement of modified noise subspace that is used in the Gao's method. Calculation time of ESPRIT is faster than MUSIC because ESPRIT doesn't use searching algorithm to find the DOA. Proposed method can estimate the DOA of circular signals until the number of mixed circular and non-circular signals is equal to the number of antennas, with faster calculation time compare to the Gao's method.
