The number of farmers migrating as "Dekasegi" workers increased through the period of so-called "Rapid Economic Growth of Japan". Many farmers went to work as seasonal labor in the urban areas such as Tokyo and Osaka. When economic growth slowed after 1974, the number of farmers migrating as "Dekasegi" workers decreased. Under this process, "Dekasegi" migration showed two spatial features : one side is the decreasing number of "Dekasegi" labor supply region, and other side is the specialization of "Dekasegi regions". In this paper, the author tries to make clear the features of and the reasons for the specialization of the "Dekasegi" labor supply regions, taking the case of the Yokote Basin area. The results show that one of the reasons is that the labor market for male workers in the Yokote Basin is narrow ; another is that the seasonal surplus labor of type 1 part-time farmers does not match the demand of the local labor market.
