In this paper, the performances of two linear k-ε models, i.e., the standard k-ε model and its modified model proposed by Zhu-Shih are discussed when they are applied to complex turbulent flows over consecutive steps combined with the wall function technique for wall boundaries. The calculated results are compared with the mean velocity components measured by electro-magnetic velocimetry. It is found that the linear models can mimic the mean velocities fairly well. The maximum velocity in the cross-section appears not on the centerline but near side walls, which are reasonably reproduced by both models. The small differences in the performances of the two models can be explained by the result in which the coefficient c_μ in Zhu-Shih model takes the value of around 0.09
