The paper focuses on the normative and empirical methodologies analyzing Business Ethics and establishing its key assumptions. While the discipline of Business Ethics emerged in the 1980s to reconcile business and ethics, the debate concerning values and facts intensified in the 1990s. In the following decades, scholars have developed and discussed four methodological positions, meta-theoretical assumptions and the function of imagination. Thus they have attempted to integrate two approaches, however, failed due to their incommensurable nature. They then abandoned the separation thesis, and established and utilized the integrative thesis, instead of, which denies them as a sort of imaginations. Though the debate came to an end, and scholars of Business Ethics are now in the process of developing the "Both/And" methodologies, based on the integrative thesis, not the "Either/Or" logic of the separation thesis.
