A weather radar network which consists of close range radars with high resolution is a new strategy to detect small scale weather phenomena such as tornadoes and microbursts which often damage our lives seriously. The Ku-band broadband radar (BBR) is designed as a radar node of the BBR network, which observes precipitation profiles from a 50 m to 15 km range with remarkably high resolution (several meter range resolution and 1 min per volume scan temporal resolution) which finely resolve these small scale phenomena. The initial observation results of the BBR network, we have just established, are presented.
