This paper describes theoretical and experimental studies of the characteristics of paper feeding mechanism with a short rubber-layered roller and a flat plate. The characteristics such as the velocity ratio of paper transport velocity to the tangential velocity of the rubber roller surface are calculated by using Green's function of the rubber roller. The velocity ratio was also measured experimentally. It was found that the load dependence of rubber friction should be considered in case of soft rubber roller. The load dependent adhesional friction model was introduced to the improved analysis. The new analytical results were found in good agreement with the experimental velocity ratio of soft rubber roller.
