TBAB (tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide) was used as a latent heat thermal storage material. And the TBAB clathrate hydrate suspension takes the form of slurry with sufficient fluidity. The objective of this study was to determine the adhesion mechanism of the TBAB hydrate solid to the heat transfer surface, the detachment characteristics of adhered TBAB hydrate solid to the heat transfer surface and to investigate a method for the formation of the clathrate hydrate slurry. A harvest-type cold storage system was investigated as one method to assist the fluidization of TBAB clathrate hydrate adhered to the heat transfer surface. We used two different types of heat transfer surface properties. The aspect of scraping the solid was observed and the force required to scraping the solid formed on the heat transfer surface was measured. It was confirmed that an adhered TBAB solid could be easily scraped from a low surface energy heat transfer surface material.
