In this research, we have studied a multi-depot vehicle routing problem with simultaneous delivery and pickup (MD_VRPSDP). The objective of this research is to minimize the total cost of delivery and pickup. The decision-making software has been developed by using the emulation of company's approach and our original approach based on the genetic algorithm (GA) to increase the efficiency of the route assignment and especially suitable for the practical use. The proposed approach is tested by using numerical examples and compared with the results of the company's approach. We have found that the proposed approach can help the company's planners to make better decisions on routing assignment.
