The practice of corporate ethics enhances the relationship of trust with corporate stakeholders and polishes the corporate image. Unlike conventional education, training, and handbooks, Awareness Programs are voluntary as opposed to involuntary. While the more traditional activities may be necessary in certain situations, often they not only do not reach their intended targets but actually produce resentment. This is because employees are not sufficiently aware of the need for corporate ethics and of the benefits for themselves. Establishing corporate ethics both on an organizational and on a personal level requires a three-step process on the part of employees: they must see, become aware, and act. These programs are capable of enhancing the understanding of employees and enabling them to give expression to corporate ethics in their own words. Awareness Programs are a stimulating exercise that will generate a virtuous cycle of change within the organization, and have already been implemented to great benefit by a number of corporations.
