The one of the authors dealed with that problem in this journal No. 42. We have researched it again considering the motion of a tug-boat and comparng with the motion of particles. Results are as follows: (i) On the equal particle-system the course stability increases by the sway of a towing point and the more number of particles is the more poor it is, (ii) When a large particle is connected with the terminal particle of equal particle system, the larger it is and the shorter the towing rope is, the more stable this system is. (iii) On the case of towed ships, the course stability is nearly equal when the towing point of a tug boat is fixed and a tug boat is allowed only yawiug. (iv) The sway of a tug boat becomes more stable than (iii) except the connection of a last large towed boat. (v) The connection of a last large towed boat becomes unstable generally, but the last long towing rope improves the stability. (vi) The steering means the decrease of yawing and somewhat is free on the sway. So by steering the stability is improved very much, we approach the result of particles (i) (ii) and can estimate the stability from the particle theory.
