• Growing demand for lightweight products has been increased by the rapid development of automobile. Lighter products have been necessary when considering in reducing fuel consumption. This paper is concerned with the development of pressing technology that copes with forming relatively high strength stainless with a screw threads on the surface of pipe. Our new press-forming process is to obtain accurate screw threads on the stainless pipe. Effects of the shape of dies have been examined in terms of equivalent plastic strains of formed products. It has been found that selecting an appropriate shape of corner R of dies important to obtain accurate screw threads on the stainless pipe.
