Only a few examples of homoeotic aberration have been described in Japan. Here, two specimens of homoeosis which appeared in Pieris are described. The first specimen is a male of Pieris napi japonica SHIROZU caught at Mt. Nyugasa in Nagano Prefecture on Aug. 23, 1955. The pattern of the underside of the anal-half right forewing is reproduced on the corresponding portion of the right hind wing. The second specimen, a female of Pieris melete MENETRIES, was captured by Mr. I. HIRAI at Asuke, Aichi Prefecture on June 26, 1955. In this specimen, the upperside of the right anal-half pattern of the forewing is reproduced on the right hind wing. The upperside of the first specimen and the underside of the second specimen are nearly normal. In both cases, there is some atrophy at the anal part of the abnormal hindwing, and the copy of the forewing pattern on the hindwing is not complete, the abnormal spots being invaded by white area of the original background.
