• The chaetotaxy of the first instar larvae of 12 nymphaline genera were investigated. Based on the data gained in the present study the basic plan of chaetotaxy of the first instar larvae in the subfamily Nymphalinae was inferred. The apomorphies were inferred in each genus. The synapomorphies were searched among the nymphaline genera, and some phylogenetic considerations were made based on them.
