A new three dimensions heat source is represented in this paper to simulate the laser beam welding considering the keyhole effect as well as developing thermal and dynamic three dimensional strain analysis method for the laser welding process in order to estimate the temperature distribution and bead shape for keyhole welding. Moreover the strain and stress distribution is computed at elevated temperature in HAZ. The comparison between the analysis results with the observed temperature history and measured strain during the experiment show that, the new heat source seems to be sufficient to estimate the laser beam bead shape and efficient for different laser welding condition. As well as, an attempt to develop an evaluation method of liquation crack initiation at HAZ of a laser welding based on the equivalent plastic strain is made.
