Numerical Investigation of Ship Wave Phenomena in Restricted Water Way

The ship wave phenomena in the restricted water way are investigated by the numerical analysis. The basic equations are Euler and continuity equation and the equations are discritized by finite difference method. The numerical algorithm is base on the MAC method and the body fitted coordinates system is adopted. In order to validate the present numerical scheme, the free surface flow simulation around the model ship which is Series 60, Cb=0.8, in restricted water way is performed and compared with the experiments. The computed results show satisfactory agreement with the measured results. The present numerical scheme is applied to the free surface simulation in various canal section to understand the effect of bottom and side wall shape. The computed results show so much different wave shape around the side wall according to the canal section shape.
