The propulsors and hydrofoils for a high speed craft are often utilized under supercavitating condition. In order to design these devices, accurate prediction of the hydrodynamic characteristics on supercavitating hydrofoils is required. This paper describes a new computational technique to calculate the characteristics of a two-dimensional supercavitating hydrofoil. The present computation is based on one of high-order singularity strength methods, that is, Linear Vortex Panel Method and more effective to thin hydrofoils. The calculated results agreed well with CIT (California Institute of Technology)'s experiments on Tulin's two-term supercavitating hydrofoil. This paper also shows that the present computational technique can be extended to design a supercavitating hydrofoil based on the prescribed pressure distribution on the face side of the foil.
