In view of wave making resistance, a hull form with L/B〜6, B/d〜4, C_b〜0.7 and F_n〜0.2 falls into intermediate territory in dimensions of actual ship and seems to be very interesting. In this paper, the author quoated the Moss type LNG Carrier from this field and planned its hull form aiming at the separability principle, the results of which are as follows: (1) Principal dimensions of LNG Carrier are decided primarily by so-called "Space design" method. In this case, an envelopment of spherical tanks, propulsive machinery, etc. shapes the hull form, and its resultant dimensions fall into the above mentioned scope. (2) Theoretical survey on the application of the separablility principle of hull form was carried out, and it was confirmed that this principle can also be applicable to this vessel as well as the large, full and slow speed vessels such as VLCC. (3) On the other hand, in the light of empirical design criteria, which was derived from many model experiments in a full scope of ship's speed and fullness, it was also clarified that the wave interference phenomenon of LNG Carrier coincides with that of VLCC, and accordingly the above principle can be applied. (4) Finally, according to the separability principle, hull form of bow, stern and whole aggregate ship was designed and its power calculation was performed. The results of the sea trial as well as model experiment for confirmation purpose gave a full agreement with the said prediction.
